open the lid, there is a little arm in the hinged area and you need to move that in the opposite direction. next pull the lighter from the case then flip it over and you should see a cotton/felt pad in the body…..fill it with fluid being careful not to overfill but just satuate it well….be careful when lighting it as some of the fluid drips and will catch fire the first time you light it………..
